Hello, I'm David Madden
I am on a mission to empower individuals and families to financially thrive. With an engineering background, I am able to apply my analytical skills to your financial situation. Over the past few decades, I have served as a project manager overseeing budgets of millions of dollars. My passion for personal finance and strategic investment has led me to embark on a new chapter as a financial advisor.
Education:
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University and a Master of Business Administration from The Ohio State University, Fisher College of Business. I have a second Master's degree in National Resource Management from the National Defense University (Eisenhower School) in Washington DC. My commitment to continuous learning led me to complete a series of online personal finance courses at the Boston Institute of Finance, Bryant University. I successfully passed the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) exam in March 2022 and the Series 65 Investment Advisor Law Exam in January 2024.
Professional Experience:
For 34 years, I served as a Systems Engineer for the US Air Force (Federal Civilian), holding various leadership roles at Wright Patterson AFB, OH, and at the Pentagon. Currently, I am a Program Manager for a defense contractor, where I oversee a $130M portfolio of advanced technology projects. My extensive experience in technology implementation, strategic planning, engineering supervision, and program management uniquely positions me to bring a disciplined and strategic approach to providing financial advice and investment management.
Financial Expertise:
Beyond my professional career, I have dedicated over 30 years to managing personal investments, including multiple brokerage accounts, Individual Retirement Accounts, Health Savings Accounts, and advising a family trust. I have navigated the complexities of personal insurance analysis, delving into health, life, property, long-term care, dental, vision, disability, auto, and umbrella policies. I have successfully funded three children through private colleges with no resulting student debt. I served on my church's finance team for over 10 years.
Firm Startup
As a result of providing family and friends financial advice over the years, I've decided to start up my own firm to provide financial advice and investment management. In June 2024, I became officially recognized as a Registered Investment Advisor in the state of Tennessee. My plan for now is to provide advice on a limited basis while holding a full-time position as a technical program manager.
My vision is to ultimately follow the Lord's plan, as stated in Proverbs 16:9, "The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps."
